Digital Cinema Mastering

Roush Media offers top quality D-Cinema encoding for theatrical distribution to cinemas, festivals, & red carpet premieres.

A DCP is a “Digital Cinema Package” and is like a digital film print, and is use for world wide digital theatrical distribution.

Digital Cinema Mastering can be done from many formats, such as HDCAM SR, QuickTime, and DPX files at 2k, 4k, & 3D stereoscopic projects. Our colorist will manage the color space conversions necessary and apply the necessary luts from log, Rec. 709 or p3 RGB to XYZ & check the image in our theater. DCP’s can be encoded with or without encryption. For encrypted D-Cinema packages, we generate KDM’s (a key to allow the film to be viewed for a specific time on a specific D-cinema server).

Mastering & Dubbing

Digital file mastering to tape (HDCAM SR, HDCAM, Digital Beta Cam, Beta Sp.) using Final Cut Pro, Avid, or other digital files is available at our facility. When the editing and finishing of your film or television project is complete and has been output to a file, such as Quicktime (.mov), get us your drive and we will take care of the rest. First, we will create a closed captioned file (if necessary) and output the video and audio files on the drive to a master tape, typically a HDCAM SR, which is the current Hi-Def industry standard. After your Hi-Def Master has been completed, we will produce clones or dubs with different audio configurations. In addition to these services, aspect ratio conversions, cross conversions to other Hi-Def formats, and down conversion to Standard Def NTSC and PAL (which would usually be done on Digi-Beta) are available for your convenience. Any thing you need we can do.

Digital Image Restoration & Enhancement for DI (Grain, Texture & Detail)

Digital Vision’s Emmy award-winning PHAME motion estimation DVO algorithms are used for grain & camera sensor noise reduction in low light of pushed shots, sharpening of RAW images without side effects, or adding grain to adjust and match the texture of images. All these image processing algorithms are available as part of our unique DI process.

For projects using old archival footage or are just in need of some image processing, our tools allow for some amazing restoration. These include: dust and dirt removal, scratch removal, removal of film flickering, film weaving, re-grain, and high quality up rezing.
