ARRI Alexa Raw and ProRes Workflow

The ARRI Alexa Camera can record Uncompressed 12bit RAW to a .ari ARRIRAW image files sequence. For the  post production workflow, it is not unlike DPX files, except you set the meta data of how you are to debayer the RAW data. The ARRIRAW files can be processed and graded with a LUT applied  for dailies.  MXF or .mov would be sent to your editing system of choice for the offline.  In fact, we can bake into the Avid mxf files the CDL color grade.  This will allow us to have a base grade already done when we conform to the ARRIRAW files.  Conforming to the ARRIRAW will allow us to have full control over the RAW file in the grading process.  Any VFX plates would be generated as DPX or OpenEXR. For The DPX files, our colorist would generate a viewing lut for the VFX to see what the director is viewing in the grading suite.

Once the final grade is done, the various deliverables would be mastered in the appropriate color space as managed by our proprietary color management system:  DPX files for the film recorder, Digital Cinema Package, HDCAM SR, etc.
