Color Assistant

ROUSH Media Burbank is looking for a Color Assistant to join our team the role of the color assistant is to support the color grading operations from ingest to delivery. The Color Assistant works under the Senior Colorist and fills a variety of roles as necessary for the completion of projects.

The Ideal candidate is a person with experience in the color grading & VFX process is very good with technology in the post-Production environment. Successful candidates will increase their knowledge and capabilities to work on studio projects in in a creative and technical way

The ideal candidate will have prior working experience with Baselight, Resolve, Avid, and Premiere in a long-form feature post-production environment.

Duties

• Managing ingest of data and management of that data for the project

• Communicating with clients on turnover of materials needed to prep for color.

• Conforming edit time for color in Baselight

• Troubleshooting workflow problems

• Keeping projects up to date with edit changes, VFX swaps etc.

• Unsupervised color grading of looks

• QC checks of conform and color projects

• Managing Project renders, ensuring deliverables specifications are met

• Handling project delivery to Drives, LTO or internet

• Creating DCPs, IMFs, Quicktimes etc.

• Preparing and creating Project Archive

• 3+ years in Post-production

• A Strong analytical problem solver, search reference manuals, internet etc

• Able to work independently and have excellent time management skills

• A positive can do attitude that works well with a team and is willing to do whatever is needed.

Skills we are looking for:

• Knowledge of FilmLight Baselight software for conforming an edit and rendering deliverables. A plus (will train)

• Experience with Blackmagic Resolve software for conform, mastering, and delivery.

• A Finishing or assistant Editor background and proficient in all major NLEs including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, FCP X.

• Experience in color grading on a technical and creative level.

• Understanding of EDLs, XMLS, AAFs, and the conform process

• Detailed knowledge of frame rates, codecs, and standard raster sizes & associated math skills.

• Strong computer skills

• Deep knowledge of DI workflows and delivery formats

• Knowledge of different color spaces, mastering of deliverables/files including DCP, DCDM, IMF, ProRes, and more.

• Knowledge of QC issues on deliverables

Experience:

• Baselight, and or Resolve 1 year (Preferred)

• Avid, and Premiere, After Effects

• Post-production experience: 3 years (Required)

• Education: Bachelor’s (Preferred)
